Blazers get desperate by signing Joel Freeland

Joel Freeland is coming back to America, he just signed a 9million dollar deal with the Blazers. After being drafted in 2006, are the blazers reaching for a big man that can solidify the frontline? Or is this guy a legitimate NBA caliber PF who can hone the middle? Only time will tell.

Joel Freeland has reportedly agreed to join the Trail Blazers, six years after the British big man was selected with the 30th pick by Portland in the2006 NBA draft

Freeland informed his current team, Unicaja Malaga, he would end his contract and make the move to the NBA, according to the team’s website. Freeland still has two years remaining on his contract with Malaga, and a deal must be reached between the team and the Blazers on his buyout of 1.5 million euro, per the Daily Mail.

Spanish website Tubasket.com says he will travel to Portland in the coming days to complete a physical and sign the contract, reportedly three years, $9 million. On Monday, the 6-foot-10 Freeland said in an interview with HoopsHype.com he wouldn’t rush a decision about his NBA future. “
